Lightly grilled carrots are wonderful!

The carrot is warm, yet still fresh tasting and crispy at the thickest part. The non-core parts of the carrot take on a roasty and simtaneous sweet and savory flavour.

Side note: lighting a gas grill with a super short lighter in a long sleeve sweater is not the best idea...

@simendsjo@fosstodon.org Thanks for the reccies - I'll.check them out.

Also, I think you're right, but I'm a carver, not a carpenter. I want a system I can use and tinker with unrestricted. I have no clue about the differences of systemd and runinit, and Icannae be arsed to make those decision while I need my system running.

Another failed build - you'd think I'd bother with reading the dependencies list ahead of time.

Nice little Case-in-point:

I just imstalled the Fedora 43 MiracleWM spin. I loathed nwg-panel (it is designed to favour a gui over a config file and the gui is nigh impossible to navigate with a keyboard), so I yoinked all nwg packages.

Now I cannae launch any applications that aren't already open. I switched to another tty , pulled down emacs-nox, researched alternatives on my phone, pulled down cargo, started building ironbar, had _none_ of the dependencies, and am now pulling down loads of devel packages so that I can build this one little element to fix what I broke.

Don't mind modding my system, but making every single pointless decision to build it (Arch and Guix, apparently) seems like more trouble than it is worth.

Don't know how to make a meme without installing some stupid ad-laden creeper software so:

Smiling girl: Drinking coffee you cooled in the fridge because your apartment is warm enuff that room temp coffee would be vile.

Smiling girl with shades doing finger guns: Drinking room temperature coffee while wearing a big, fluffy, hooded robe with a weighted blanket over your legs because your apartment is so cold room temp coffee tastes like it is iced.

Hey Fedi

Looking to change my system configuration Any ideas?

Was on Fedora, moved to (Guix, Arch, NonGuix) with EXWM, prolly switching back to Fedora for now.
Wants

  • Rolling Release
  • Emacs keybinding everywhere
  • Clipboard-Kill-ring integration
  • Minimal packaging(I should be able to identify and remove excess easily)
  • Modular dependencies
  • Preconfigured systemd or similar for the following:
    • Multi-monitor support (I only want access to reconfigure the default display, highDPI scaling per diaplay, etc.)
    • Wireless Networking (reconfiguration is important, but having WiFi shut off automatically when WiFi is connected is a good default, but I would also want to configure it to default to my phone or external wofi adapter when I was not connected to the Ethernet)
  • Wayland
  • Emacs installed by default
  • Easily obtained support for DRM encumbered media(I don&;t mind installing from non-official repos)

Pluses

  • Ungoogled Chromium browser as a default
  • Mouseless interface
  • Configurable display of system telemetry
  • Nyxt or similar hinting to make keyboard nav on the web seemless
  • Guix or pacman as the package manager
  • Tiling Window Management

Annoyances

  • Firefox removal breaks the whole OS
  • Linux-Libre kernel (I want to use it, but my computer needs to be practical)
  • Hand-holding (The system should function in all environments, but maintenance/updates should be my responsibility)
  • Dozens of packages that exist to serve a function that could be replaced with another package, but instead force the removal of half the system when you uninstall them.
  • Don&;t want to have to add everything from scratch(I love Arch, I love the Arch documentation, but I really need to get past the basics and into a development environment, video production, and web-browsing in under a week.

@scottjenson@social.coop Forgive me if I appear to question your professional judgement, but I wonder if this whole discussion is built around the wrong question. Maybe a clearer question, apart from the somewhat confuaing nature of this app would be:

When you post to social media, who are you trying to reach:
- Everybody
- Anyone who follows me or is part of the same convo
- My Followers/Friends
- one or two people secretly(messaging, DMs, etc)

Select/rank all that apply.

@scottjenson@social.coop Maybe it is as simple as making Unlisted the Public option and adding a toggle option to "Blast this poat on main" or whatever... Then, users could get what I think would be their preconceived notion of what public actually is and performers could yell out to the masses, or the desperate could scream into the void, or mobilizers could spread the important news by flipping a toggle.

In the current form, Public is the only one that Isn't exclusively visibily - it's visibility plus promotion/distribution. Wouldn't you agree?
